We’re live! Toning……
Ah toning…….
I really want to address a VERY common mistake so many stylists make: Using a formula that is lighter than to level of the color that they lifted into.
For example, you lifted the hair to a dark yellow (level 9). Many stylists were targeting a lighter level so they would tone with a level 10 (or higher) hoping to achieve a brighter and cooler blonde. After letting the toner sit for 15-20 minutes (if its removed too early it doesn’t have a chance to fully oxidize but thats another topic for another day), they stylist rinses only to find the blondes are STILL yellow. “My toner doesn’t work!”, they cry in the back room.
Sorry but thats not how is works. You can not tone hair with a lighter level than you’ve lifted. In the above scenario, the toner level would need to be a 9. Probably violet based determined on the clients desire.
Rock over London. Its hair. Lets do this thing.
